 Elisabeth Tweedie’s entire career has been focused on commercial satellites, telecommunications and broadcasting, specifically in the highly specialized area of evaluating the long term potential for new ventures, initiating their development and finding and developing appropriate alliances.

During the course of her career she has advised and worked with senior stakeholders in global and international businesses, governments and regulatory bodies.  Her core expertise is in understanding new technology and its practical applications; identifying key drivers for both B2B and B2C markets and identifying, evaluating and developing JV opportunities. 

Her satellite experience spans six continents, 65 countries and five frequencies (C, Ku, Ka, S and L-Band) and associated terrestrial services.  Assignments include: market assessments, business plans, due diligence, JV formation, beam loading and market entry strategies.

Previously Elisabeth served as Associate Director, Corporate Strategy for Hughes Electronics – a satellite manufacturer and provider of satellite, telecommunications and broadcast services including DIRECTV.  Her responsibilities included due diligence – she worked on every acquisition and JV that the company considered during her ten years there - strategy, and evaluating and developing new businesses. She wrote the first business plan for Spaceway – a Ka-Band system and since then has worked with Ka-Band operators and potential operators around the world.   Her earlier work at Hughes included pre-sales support for potential customers in Europe, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, North and South America and Africa helping them develop their business plans.

Her early career was in the UK working with CIT, a leading provider of multi-client reports for the Media and Telecommunications industries.  She was retained by the BBC to work on developing the business for the UK’s first DBS license, which was held by the BBC at the time.

In the last ten years she has used her extensive background and knowledge to write about the satellite, telecoms and broadcasting industries for her clients. She regularly writes articles, technical and market briefs for Satellite Markets and Research, and research reports for the WTA. For other industry clients she ghost-writes press releases, speeches, blogs, white papers and web-copy.

Elisabeth has an MBA in International Marketing from the University of Aston (UK) where she graduated top of her class; she is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Advanced Management in Telecommunications Program.  Early in her career she authored numerous published multi-client reports on the market and economic aspects of telecommunications and media industries in Europe, Asia and North America and is currently Associate Editor of Satellite Executive Briefing.
